History of the castle in Conwy
Conwy Castle is a medieval fortress located in the town of Conwy, Wales. The construction of the castle began in 1283 under the orders of King Edward I of England as part of his campaign to conquer and subdue Wales. Designed by the master architect James of St. George, the castle was strategically positioned on a rocky outcrop, overlooking the River Conwy and the surrounding landscape. Conwy Castle was intended to be an imposing symbol of English power and control over the region.
The construction of the castle took four years to complete, with a large workforce of skilled craftsmen and laborers involved in the process. The result was a remarkable and imposing structure that featured massive curtain walls, imposing towers, and a grand entrance gateway. The castle played a crucial role in the conflicts between England and Wales, and it withstood several sieges during its history.
Despite its military significance, Conwy Castle gradually fell into disuse and disrepair over the centuries. In the 19th century, there was a renewed interest in preserving historic sites, and efforts were made to restore and conserve the castle. Today, Conwy Castle stands as a well-preserved and impressive example of medieval military architecture, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It attracts visitors from around the world, offering a glimpse into the fascinating history of Wales and its turbulent past with England.
From Conwy Castle
After visiting Conwy Castle, Mark, our head motorhome and caravantechnician who came on the camp has a huge love for guitar and no matter where he goes, he has one of his acoustic guitars with him so our team ended up in the local guitar shop which is called Mayall’s Music Co. If you yourself are a lover of playing guitar, we recommend a visit here and ask for Sammy or Jack. Both top lads and they will get you sorted with anything you need. If you are looking for a good music shop I the Conway area, their address is Mayall's Music Co, 9 Bangor Rd, Conwy LL32 8NG.
Conway Marina
After visiting here we headed up to that marina where have also carried out repair and servicing work on boats and have a great relationship with now friends who was customers. So we popped up to say hello. Conwy Marina is a beautiful area. Here are some of the features you can find at Conwy Marina. Boat Berths: Conwy Marina provides berths for a wide range of boats. Marina Services: The marina offers essential services for boat owners, including water and electricity hook-ups. Now, we found something...
When we was in Conway, we opted to stay on a local camp site that we got to know the owners of from doing repairs and servicing and being called out when caravan and motorhome owners got in trouble and needed our help. But we found a place you could park up in your camper over night for just 50p if you wanted to. We didn't see any signs saying no motorhome parking over night so we can only assume that it's fine to do so but please make your own checks and if you do say, be respectful to the area, land and keep it clean. Over night parking is 50p and the location was Bodlondeb Car Park, Conwy LL32 8DU.
